It's a biblical fact that part of a Christian's new-birth-right is prosperity. It's also a fact that a Christian's birthright of prosperity is not limited to a fiscal or monetary sense, but prosperity in all areas of our lives.
Now this article is not meant to be a rehash of, or another defense for the validity of the prosperity message of the Bible, However, it is also only fitting that before we continue, we provide scriptural evidence for the position of biblical prosperity with one of the many places in the Bible that supports the position that prosperity is a new-birth right. After all, we must always be sure that we are not adding to, as well as not taking away, from the Gospel message.
"Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers."
For all those who have heard that the subject of prosperity is not part of the Bible message... that God is not involved or concerned with the prosperity of His people, including finances, let this Scripture reference be the beginning of a new understanding.
This being said, the question remains:
Why Are So Many Christians Poor?
It's a valid and perplexing question to many, but the answer of course is in the Word of God if we will just 'heed His Word.' He tells us in Hosea 4:6: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Destroyed not from a lack of right or authority mind you, but lack of knowledge!
But knowledge in what? His people are destroyed by a lack of knowledge of His Word, their entitlements or inheritance as Christians, and a lack of knowledge of seedtime and harvest, God's process of investment.
What We Need To Know
So what do we need to know to break the chains of poverty in our lives? That's financial poverty, health poverty, relationship poverty... every kind of poverty. We need to know God's will for our lives... His Word... how to sow seeds, and how to stand in faith.
Believing For The Hundredfold Return
Now let me say, that I cannot continue this article to its satisfying and proper conclusion in entirety, as this is an article, and that would be a book that's already been written. The book is titled The Inheritance of the Saints Through Christ and is available in our store on this site. I highly recommend it, not for the egotistical reason that I wrote it, but because it is an in-depth treatise on this subject of who we are in Christ, what our inheritance really is, and how to receive it - and this is knowledge we have to have to be all that God wants us to be in Him.
But what this article can do is get a good start on understanding the subject of godly inheritance and receiving, in hopes that you will pick up your study with us through our book and other study articles on this site, and of course their ultimate source, the Bible.
So why believe for the hundredfold return? It's simple really. God tells us this is the minimum intended return for seed sown for His sake and the sake of the Gospel in Mark 10:29, 30. And why do I say minimum intended return, when othe places in the bible, namely the 4th Chapter of Mark and 13th Chapter of Matthew mention returns of "...thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold?"
First, notice the hundredfold return is the minimum stated return for seed sown for Jesus' sake and the sake of the Gospel. Secondly, God tells us that He is "...able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think..." in Ephesians 3:20.
Now let's pause for a moment and think about this: If He is able to do this for us "...exceedingly abundantly beyond all that w ask or think..." do you think that He would tell us this if He wasn't also willing to do this for us? Never! Therefore, expect the hundredfold return for seed sown for His sake and the sake of the Gospel. Indeed, expect more than the hundredfold... expect exceeding abundance beyond all you can ask or think, but know the hundredfold return is the minimum intended return for such a seed.
But why then the thirty and sixtyfold return? The answer is it's because of the littleness of their faith and the purposes the seed was sown for.
Breaking The Chains - Three Keys
Which brings us to the final three elements we must have to see supernatural abundance in our lives; faith, the confession of the spoken Word, and obedience. For without these elements there can be no manifestation of our inheritance, even though it belongs to us through deed title given to us on the Cross at Calvary.
(22) And Jesus answered saying to them,"Have faith in God. (23) "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and
cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it shall be granted him.
(24) Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe
that you have received them, and they shall be granted you."
If you are going to see God's promises and inheritance of prosperity come to pass in your life, you must believe what He says about you, and confess it out loud - that's speaking! Why? The simple and direct answer is because He tells us to.
And this brings us to the last element of breaking the chains of poverty in our lives... obedience. Yes, if He tells us to do something, then we need to do it. Just be sure it is His voice you are hearing. If it's God, you will be able to confirm it in His Word.
A Word of Encouragement
Recently, my wife and I saw the fruit of obedience and the godly principles of receiving in our lives. God had told us some time ago to make a financial move that didn't make worldly sense to us. In fact, as the economy turned down so did our investment and it looked like we had lost a large sum of money. In fact, the enemy had stolen it from us, but we kept believing.
A month or so ago we received a check in the mail, completely unsolicited, for an amount that essentially replaced what we had lost. Now this isn't the harvest on our seed mind you, but rather the return of what the enemy had stolen from us. We are now believing for sevenfold what was stolen, as well as Eph. 3:20, exceeding abundance beyond all we can ask or think as our harvest, because that's what the Word of God tells us we are entitled to!
I share this with you to give you evidence that God's Word works, and He is bigger than worldly circumstances. He is a God of His word and His Word - for they are one and the same. He has provided for your prosperity, for the reason of investing into His kingdom, as well as your personal prosperity and comfort, but make no mistake, it's ultimately for His glory!
Have faith in God. Follow His directions and you too will manifest the breaking of the bondage and yoke of the enemy's tool of poverty, and be another example to the world that our God is a good God, an abundant God, and a God of His word!
Yours In Christ
