The God of Circumstance

Do you worship the god of circumstance? Many, even Christians, do! Does this sound like an unfair accusation? Before you draw this conclusion, ask yourself how many times you have heard or even said to yourself something like this:

"Oh that Jimmy, he wouldn't have what he has if it weren't for the fact that some long lost great aunt died..." You can fill in the rest.

Or how about this: "You know I am just so unlucky in love. I really have no one around me that cares about me."

Worship!

Whether they know it or not, these people are worshiping the god of circumstance. Why do I say this? Because to attribute fortune or misfortune to circumstance goes directly against biblical teaching and a primary and basic law of God – it's called the law of Sowing and Reaping or Seedtime and Harvest. These imaginary individuals in the above examples are attributing their circumstances to chance, or fate, or whatever whimsical force they so choose to call it.

Every Good Thing

But that's not what God's Word says about good things we receive. He says they are from Him, not from Aunt Mary or Uncle Jim or some other earthly friend or benefactor or chance or fate – but from Him!

James 1:17
Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above...

Well what about the things that are not His design or will for our lives? There are some that would say that God is trying to teach us by allowing sickness, and calamity and poverty into our lives. But again, that's not what God's Word says.

Jeremiah 29:11
'For I know the plans that I have for you,' says the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.'

     This is what God says!

Do Not Be Deceived

So where do all 'these things' in our lives come from that are not His design for our lives?

There are two parts to this answer in the Word of God. The first is we have an enemy and his name is satan. But the other answer may surprise you; it's us!

Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

You see God is talking about His primary and fundamental law of Seedtime and Harvest or Sowing and Reaping. So according to the Word of God, if there was a harvest, there had to be a corresponding seed, otherwise the above Scripture could not be true.

Therefore if you have a need in your life, or a victory to be won, instead of worshiping the false god of circumstance, start thinking in Seedtime and Harvest consciousness. Start seeing things the way God sees things and wants us to operate. Start operating intentionally within the principles of Seedtime and Harvest for His glory and watch your entire life change.

And please remember God is not mocked and no Word of His will return void. His Word does not go out of style or fashion, it is good forever!

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
And cold and heat,
And summer and winter,
And day and night,
Shall not cease.
