As we have said before, there are two kingdoms and two systems that exist simultaneously in this world. They are the kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world or the world kingdom.
There is also a common spiritual law that exists in both kingdoms. It is the law of Seedtime and Harvest (Genesis 8:22). You can read more about this law in the Word of God and on our site as well as other resources, but it suffices to say that this world kingdom is need conscious and God's kingdom is seed conscious.
As a born again child of God, you have a right to operate under God's kingdom laws, but God does not force you to - it's your choice. But understand this, whatever you do is a seed, and that seed will produce a harvest of like kind. Therefore it follows that being need conscious as well as being seed conscious is a seed in itself and will also return a harvest of like kind.
What God Says
As Christians, of course our primary concern is not what we think, and what we think and 'know,' but what God says and thinks. Given this, it may surprise you to know that in God's kingdom we were not meant to bless ourselves! No, He is meant to be our blessor not us. Scriptural evidence of this is in Matthew 6: In this Chapter God tells us what our priority is supposed to be. He tells us that our priority is to be Him first! And He further tells us in this same Chapter that once we put Him first, then it is His intention and obligation to then bless us with provision.
Now as you might have suspected, putting God first is being seed conscious and not need conscious. Let's now look at these two principles in action, Seedtime and Harvest and being seed conscious, and being need conscious, in God's Word:
II Corinthians 9:6-11
(6) Now this I say, he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully.
(7) Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart; not grudgingly or under compulsion; for God loves a cheerful giver.
(8) And God is able to make all grace abound to you, that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
(9) as it is written,
"He scattered abroad, He gave to the poor, His righteousness abides forever."
(10) Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food, will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;
(11) you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
Study these Scriptures. Sow them into your spirit ("And the sower sows the Word..."[Mark 4:13]). Sow them until they take firm root ("If you abide in Me, and My Word abides in you..."[John 15:7]).
Now, in light of these Scriptures in II Corinthians 9:6-11, examine your life and ask yourself; "am I living a need conscious life or a seed conscious life?"
I'll say it again; we were never meant to be our own blessors - that"s God's job. We were never meant to be obsessed with getting but we were meant to be obsessed with sowing... according to God's will. Remember? "...Just as is purposed in our heart." (verse 7). We are not the ones doing the purposing, He is! We are to sow according to His will. Now go back and read the rest of the Text and look at the results of being seed conscious. Isn't this the way you want to live your life?
Being need conscious is the emblem, the hallmark, of belonging to the kingdom of this world. Being seed conscious is emblematic and the hallmark of belonging to God's kingdom and operating under it's principles and resultant rewards (harvest).
(11) You will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
So, what's missing? What do you need...? Do you need love? Then sow love. Do you need healing? Pray for someone else who needs healing. Do you need faith? Sow a prayer of faith. Need finances? Sow a seed of finances for His sake and the sake of the Gospel (Mark 10:28-30). Need salvation? Sow a prayer seed and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior!
Yes, be obsessed with sowing what God has purposed in your heart. Be or become seed conscious or motivated, and watch all "...these things..." be added to you (Matthew 6).
