Wait For The Lord

The Mechanism

Yes, Psalm 27 instructs us to "...wait for the Lord." But do we truly know what this term "wait" or "to wait" really means? I submit that most Christians don't – but it is imperative that we do know this meaning if we are to operate successfully in Seedtime and Harvest, the mechanism that God has established, if we are to receive all of His blessings.

You see, no one can escape Seedtime and Harvest, for the Lord tells us it will last as long as the earth remains – and the earth still remains! No one is exempt of this process for it is a law, God's law, of giving and receiving, sowing and reaping, or seedtime and harvest. Yes, we are all sowers and therefore we all are harvesters, so be settled on this fact.

Now the question remains, how does waiting interact with receiving God's blessings or His inheritance to us? Let's examine God's Word in Psalm 27 for the answer:

Psalm 27:13,14

(13) I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
(14) Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord.

No Fear

Immediately in our analysis of this verse we see the phrase "...goodness of the Lord..." What is being referred to? The blessings of the Lord, to us, His family. Yes, you are His family! It says, "...I would have despaired...," in other words, there is no need to despair that we won't receive, but why? God is telling us that because we believe there is no reason to despair, or fear, that His blessings are coming to pass to us! Wow!

When Are We to Receive?

Now when are these blessings to come to pass in our lives? In the land of the living, that's when. That's now time. Not later, but now, in the land of the living – not in heaven, but now!

Wait – What Does It Mean?

Then God gives us this key to receiving His blessings in the here and now:  He says; "Wait!" But does this mean to just be patient? What does He mean?

You might be saying about now; "God, that's all I've been doing is waiting. Heck, I've been waiting all my life – so where are these riches of blessing? When are they going to come?" But that's not the complete definition of the term "wait" God is talking about.

I have pledged to always back my statements up with scriptural proof, so here is the scriptural meaning of the term "wait" or "to wait" according to the original Hebrew text as found in Strong's Exhaustive Concordance. The reference number is 6960 if you care to look it up for yourself. It says; " bind together (by twisting...) expect: –gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait (for, on, upon).

Did you hear that? To wait upon... expect... look... patiently... We are to look patiently with expectation – with full expectancy for that thing to take place. We are to tarry... that is, don't go anywhere else, just keep expecting and looking for that thing to happen – as if it might take place any second! We are to bind ourselves together with this one thought and desire (twisting) which is the same as His desire for our lives, or it wouldn't be a promise to us! We are to wait... fully expectant... on our God to bring it... this promise you're believing for, to pass!

Lastly, He reinforces this thought in the strongest of ways... He repeats Himself and at the same time He speaks to us about our attitude:

(14) ...Be strong, and let your heart take courage;
Yes, wait for the Lord.

So I say to you what God is saying to us: Whatever it is that you need, that most assuredly has already been provided for you by Jesus on the Cross, that God has already promised you in His Word... Wait!

Yes, with the full expectancy of it coming to pass, bind yourself to that thing – to the results. Be strong and let your heart take courage (in His Word and His promises). Fix yourself in your faith, because that's what this is, that your God is not a liar. Fix yourself that regardless of circumstances, you will believe God for all that He has already done for you – that it will come to pass – and it could very well be any second! Yes, sow the seed of waiting on or for the Lord and receive the harvest of the manifestation of His promises.

Yes, expect – Wait! for the Lord.
