Part II Do The Blessings Of God Really Belong To Us?

The Curse Becomes The Blessing

“What an outrageous statement,” you say? No, not at all from the standpoint of the believer! And how can this be?

Before we answer this question, let’s look at what we are dealing with. First, we’ll view the curse (curses), the consequences for not keeping the whole Law:

Deuteronomy 28
(15) “But it shall come about, if you will not obey the Lord your God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes with which I charge you today, that all these curses shall come upon you and overtake you (emphasis added).”

(17) “Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.”     This refers to your ability to receive provision⎯sustenance.

(20) “The Lord will send upon you curses, confusion…rebuke, in all you undertake to do….”     Yes, in all your endeavors in life, failure due to a state of confusion⎯a confused state of mind.

(22) “The Lord will smite you with consumption (a disease of wasting) and with fever and with inflammation… (explanation added).”

This is a description of some of the different types of diseases that are under the curse.

(25) “The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies….”     It is interesting to note that just defeat in general is under the curse.

(29) “…and you shall grope at noon, as the blind man gropes in darkness, and you shall not prosper in your ways; but you shall only be oppressed and robbed continually, with none to save you (emphasis added).”

This verse is telling us specifically that not prospering is under the curse! (38) “You shall bring out much seed to the field but you shall gather in little, for the locust shall consume it."

Sowing much and reaping little is also actually part of the curse. Oh, for those who have ears to hear, let them hear!

(45) “So all these curses shall come on you and pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you would not obey the Lord your God by keeping His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.”(see v.47)

(47) “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things…”

So having imperfect faith is also, that’s right, part of the curse!

(61) “Also every sickness and every plague which, not written in the book of this law, the Lord will bring on you until you are destroyed.”
Therefore, all sickness and disease are under the curse!

What a mouthful… Just about every bad thing that could happen to one seems to be under the curse. So how could the curse signify anything good or become the blessing of Jesus? Are you ready to hear the most beautiful thing you’ve ever heard? Then listen once again to Galatians 3:13.

Galatians 3:13“Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us⎯for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree””⎯

Now watch this:

The Curse: “…Cursed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl…”(Deuteronomy 28:17)Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Whole Law:
“Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.” (Deuteronomy 28:5)

(Remember I Corinthians 1:30?: “But by His doing (the Father’s) you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness (that’s right standing with God) and sanctification [pure⎯undefiled⎯without sin] and redemption.)

The Curse: “…curses…confusion…rebuke…” (Deuteronomy 28:20)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.” (Deuteronomy 28:6)
And also⎯
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (II Timothy 1:7) [KJ version]

The Curse: “…consumption…inflammation….” (Deuteronomy 28:22)
And every and all sickness and disease is under the curse (Deuteronomy 28:61)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. (III John 2)

The Curse: “The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies…” (Deuteronomy 28:25)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before you; they shall come out against you one way and shall flee before you seven ways.” (Deuteronomy 28:7)

The Curse: “…and you shall not prosper in your ways…” (Deuteronomy 28:29)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity…” (Deuteronomy 28:11)
And again⎯
“The Lord will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God gives you.” (Deuteronomy 28:8)

The Curse: “You shall bring out much seed to the field but you shall gather in little…” (Deuteronomy 28:38) Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus. Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
(29) “Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake,
(30) but that he shall receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.””
(Mark 10:29,30)

The Curse: “So all these curses shall come upon you…” (Deuteronomy 28:45)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you…” (Deuteronomy 28:2)

The Curse: imperfect faith: “Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a glad heart, for the abundance of all things.” (Deuteronomy 28:47)
Not Guilty: Galatians 3:13⎯redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
Now Entitled To The Blessing For Keeping The Law:
“…fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith…” (Hebrews 12:2)
And once again⎯
“But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness (right-standing with God) [emphasis and explanation added]…” (I Corinthians 1:30)

Who Will Be Your God?

So I ask you, now that you know, biblically, without a shadow of a doubt, that you have been redeemed from not prospering and all sickness and disease, and have the deed ownership and entitlement to live free in blessing of every kind, who will you allow to be your God? Will you receive the witness and testimony of this natural world of present circumstances and fear⎯that is, of what the devil tells you, and that which is temporary? Or will you believe God and the witness and testimony of the One, eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, living God? Who will be your God?

For who and what you believe is your God, and will dictate what you receive. You see, even though you have deed title to all the blessings of God, that doesn’t stop you from living under the curse! For you will receive what and who you choose to believe.

You Choose

Life or death, blessing or cursing⎯you choose. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants…” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Yes, life or death, blessing or cursing⎯you choose. You choose by who you belong to (Jesus) and who and what you believe.
Yes, choose life.

In Jesus Mighty Name
