Are you aware of all the benefits that belong to those who belong to the Lord? Oddly, most Christians aren't. Although we as Christians are entitled to these benefits, many don't receive them because they simply aren't aware they belong to them.
Why is this? Because you have to be aware of these benefits in order to stand in faith for them. And again, why is this so important? Because faith is the mechanism through which we receive all of the promises of God. That's right, if you're not in faith for all that belongs to you through Christ, you can't receive it, even though it belongs to you. Do you remember what the Lord said about the subject of knowing in Hosea 4:6? "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." Yes, we have to know what we received through Christ first before we can receive it.
What We Received
So what exactly is it that we received? Let's look at what the Lord tells us belongs to us, the benefits of belonging to Him:
(1) Bless the Lord, O my soul:
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
(2) Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
(3) Who pardons all your iniquities;
Who heals all your diseases;
(4) Who redeems your life from the pit;
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
(5) Who satisfies your years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
Brothers and sisters in Christ, this is a statement of your inheritance! All of the above belongs to you if you receive it through faith. So let's disassemble and analyze these verses so we don't miss anything God is telling us about what we inherited and how to receive it.
First, notice this Psalm starts out with praise, for all blessings start with praise.
Next, we are to "...forget none of His benefits;"(verse 2) Why is this so important? Remember? How could we stand in faith for those benefits if we don't first know them! Now comes the list...
"Who pardons all your iniquities"(v.3) How many of your iniquities are pardoned when we belong to Jesus? Some of your iniquities? No, all of your iniquities.
"Who heals all of your diseases." How many diseases have been paid for to be healed? All your diseases... not just some of them.
"Who redeems your life from the pit;"(v.4) Yes, without Him propitiation would not have been made, the price would would not, could not, have been paid. He bought us back... redeemed us! Brothers and sisters, it's the greatest blessing of all of our inheritance... but not the only one.
"Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;" What a blessing. Think about it... to be crowned by the most high God with the favor of a crown of lovingkindness and compassion. It's almost impossible to conceptualize the depth and breadth of the love He has for us to make this statement and view us in this light - with this love.
Supernatural Youth Renewal
Now listen to this (verse 5): "Who satisfies your years (in some translations this reads 'your desire') with good things..." There is something interesting about this word that translates as "things" in the original text. Do you know what that word "things" really means? Things! That's right, stuff! So He is telling us that part of what He died and and paid for on the Cross (and yes, this is a Messianic Psalm) was the attainment of things! Now that should stir up some of the religious folks in our midst. But there it is in black and white in God's Word for all to see. And why?
This is fascinating: (verse 5)"So that your youth is renewed like the eagle." Here God has actually linked these two promises of prosperity and supernatural youth renewal together. Therefore, according to God and His Word, prosperity must then be a prerequisite to having our youth renewed. Lastly, in this same verse God is telling us (reminding us) that both prosperity and supernatural youth renewal have been paid for... by Him, for us... at the Cross!
What Will You Leave Behind?
So I have only one question for you: Which part of what Christ died and paid for are you going to refuse and leave behind? Which part are you going to refuse to believe you are entitled to which His Word tells you that you are entitled to? I'll tell you the part I'm going to believe and receive... all of it! How about you? Will you receive all He has paid such a dear price for, with the most precious commodity the world has ever known? His blood, the blood of Jesus.
In His Will
