(How To Receive Your Healing)
Yes, aside from the prayer of salvation, the prayer of agreement is the most powerful prayer that can be prayed. But it is also one of the most misused teachings in the Kingdom of God.
"Truly I say to you, whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (19) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. (20) For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst." (Matthew 18:18-20) Two Teachings or One?
At first you might be thinking: "Why is he bringing up two separate biblical teachings - binding and loosing, and the prayer of agreement?" For many if not most biblical scholars treat these as two separate subjects. But if we are to understand the true power of this prayer of agreement, this question must be answered first.
So which is it? Is it one subject or two? Is it one teaching or two? Read the Scripture above again for yourself. What do you think? The answer is one - it's one subject and one teaching. I'll tell you how we know this in a moment, but why is this so important anyway? Let's look at Matthew 16:19, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Notice Jesus in this verse is giving the keys to the Kingdom of heaven" and pay particular attention to the plural form, He said "keys," not key. Yes, to be sure binding and loosing is a key to the Kingdom of heaven, but what does this have to do with the prayer of agreement?
Now go back to our original Scripture reference, Matthew 18:18-20. First He gives the principle of binding and loosing, and then before describing the power of the prayer of agreement, He uses the word again! He starts the sentence, "Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven." The word again is joining these two thoughts. You see, Jesus is telling us that He is talking about the same thing - these are the keys to the Kingdom.
Now the rest is pretty simple, if we but follow His directions. That is, if we want anything bound or loosed, we need to get in agreement with someone and ask the Father.
In My Name
And how are we to ask and agree on what we bind and loose? The next verse (20) tells us how‚ in My name. "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst."
Yes, the power of the prayer of agreement is unlocked only when we realize all that it really is, and follow Jesus' instructions on how to use it. It is a key to the Kingdom, to be used in conjunction with binding and loosing, in His Name! But when these elements are put together as Jesus intended, we have the entire backing of heaven behind this prayer. For this is a promise of Jesus, the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, His word is that "it shall be done." (v.20 [emphasis added])
Putting It All Together
So let's go through the steps as Jesus teaches us - to see how to apply the keys to the Kingdom through the prayer of agreement. First, let's say a Christian has been claiming a healing. We know it is Jesus' will for our lives, for it is Scriptural and part of what He died for on the Cross (Isaiah 53:5, I Peter 2:24), therefore we have faith that this is so.
You Can't Do It Alone
The next step requires a prayer partner. That's right, there are no successful "Lone Rangers" operating in the Kingdom of God. If nothing else, this teaching alone tells us just this. So we get in agreement with someone that this healing (or whatever we are standing in faith for that's according to His will) belongs to us - we lay claim to it as we ask in faith. We lay claim to it just as we would pick up something that already belongs to us, as Jesus tells us that it already does!
Now in coming into agreement with someone, it is vital that we choose wisely our prayer partner. Better yet, just ask the Lord to lead you to the person to pray and get into agreement with. For if that person doesn't truly agree (and they can't agree with something they don't have faith in), then there is no prayer of agreement - the principle is not in effect! Yes, it takes "two or more" to agree and they must believe to agree.
Now understand something: When you come into agreement faithfully with someone, you are loosing the blessing of heaven to bring the manifestation of God's Word to pass. Use this "key to the Kingdom" to first bind Satan and his work (i.e., sickness and disease). Just as is the order in God's Word, bind or loose what needs binding or loosing, and then come into agreement with a faithful Christian that believes the Word of God as the Truth that it is, and watch the guaranteed blessings of God come to pass.
Yes, the prayer of agreement used in conjunction with binding and loosing are the keys to the Kingdom of God.
